PowerDonut® PD4
State-of-the-art intelligent electronic device for overhead transmission line monitoring
Created in the 1980's, the PowerDonut® is an industry proven sensor for transmission line monitoring. The new 4th generation "PD4" has added features and lower start-up currents. Units have the ability to be installed on live lines and are designed to work both in 50 and 60 Hz systems.
Measurement range goes from 0 to 3000 Amps. The PowerDonut® is self powered via the magnetic field surrounding the conductor and includes a backup programable battery that can power the system for up to 12 hours at levels below 50 Amps.
For data reliability, the PowerDonut® includes an internal memory, that stores up to 1 month of data designed to automatically be sent to the server once communications are restored.
The unit provides dual communications via a 2.4 GHz XBEE radio transceiver and CAT-M1/NB-IoT cellular communications. Software can be set up to work in a local server or cloud based solutions, with SQL and CSV historical data logging and integration to SCADA systems.
